SAS IT Resource Management

Plan, allocate and optimize IT-Resources successfully

Every IT landscape is unique – hence it is good if scalable and adjustable solutions are available. We have expanded, in close cooperation with SAS Germany, SAS ITRM solution as an attractive product package: More interfaces, more reporting options, and an interactive web client are as much ITRM managed services as are the development of customized reporting and training.

IT Resource Management (ITRM) provides organizations with a central and holistic view of their entire IT infrastructure and resources. ITRM provides decision-relevant information for administrators and management as a control approach in the IT landscape.

Analysis, monitoring, and planning - an important approach to cope with the pressure of increased competition and the need for transparency and cost-effectiveness. ITRM solutions thus provide intelligent early warning and efficient capacity planning as well as the basis for activity allocation.

The 360-degree cockpit for your IT

An overview with one click - ITRM can present all relevant IT resources, their status and their utilization in a compact form. IT costs can be represented by a platform in a process-oriented or per-causal manner. As a result, existing resources can be optimally utilized and IT investments optimally planned. This approach also allows an outlook: bad investments can be avoided or costs can be saved - not only due to rising electricity prices for the IT departments in the future an even more important topic.

We make it fit

The advantage of IT resource management, to provide a "big picture" about complex IT structures at the touch of a button, extends to both hardware, networks, and applications. We have diverse and well-founded know-how in all relevant areas, such as mainframe, open systems, virtualization, storage systems, networks, and databases. Currently running and successfully completed projects bring us the necessary expertise.

Sounds interesting?
Do not hesitate to contact us - we will be happy to work with you to find out if and how ITRM solutions can help your company! First steps could be analyses followed by a customer workshop.

ITRM “lives” from IT metrics at defined times or intervals to derive trends or forecasts from these values. The average growth of the data volume in companies is estimated to increase by 40% annually adding to the pressure on IT managers rising cost-effective and sustainable solutions. In conjunction with greater demands on the sustainability of IT structures and energy prices, ITRM can greatly help to optimize investment and operating costs.
Is there a "critical mass" for the meaningful use of ITRM? Can the ROI be estimated in project planning? For whom is ITRM worthwhile? Legitimate questions. First of all, sectors such as hosting, banking and insurance, automotive and telecommunications are particularly hard hit. But also for companies and organizations in the service sector, the relevance of a transparent, low-risk, planning-proof and as economical as possible IT structure is increasing.
ITRM – can do a lot, and brings a lot
ITRM can offer many advantages for the IT areas of large and larger companies:
  • Planning security
  • Resource optimization
  • Cost saving operation
  • Transparency
  • Internal (and if need be external) activity allocation
Through greater transparency, the polluter-pays principle can be implemented more strongly in corporate IT: Which department has "used" / uses an IT resource when and to what extent

Here, successful ITRM provides the basis for internal activity allocation.

Depending on the sector, company and IT structure, ITRM can also offer these advantages:
  • Analytical capacity planning
  • Dovetailing of IT structure and corporate strategy
  • Optimization of the utilization of existing resources
  • Reduction of investment costs
  • Reduction of risks (for example downtimes)
  • Optimization of energy management
  • Analysis of virtual IT environments
  • Green IT: more sustainability

Unique products: tailor-made solutions

Every IT landscape is unique – hence it is good if scalable and adjustable solutions are available. We have expanded the SAS ITRM solution as an attractive product package in close cooperation with SAS Germany. More interfaces, more reporting options, and an interactive web client are just as much an ITRM Managed Service as customer-specific reporting and training. The use of our cross-platform product Decadis Control Center - DCC - can also be useful, for example, for semaphore control for planning or for the execution and monitoring of complex batch process flows that can arise in the ITRM environment.

Partner products: premium standards for the ITRM market

We have been an official Silver partner of SAS since 2004. Our customers benefit from the long and intensive partnership with the Analytics specialists: On the one hand, the possibilities of the SAS ITRM solution and, on the other hand, our competence in analysis, consulting and tailor-made implementation.

Projects – It works – really

ITRM works! We have been convincing a large German bank customer in an ongoing ITRM project for years. Or an Austrian computer center that benefits as a system host for banks and insurance companies through a successfully completed IT resource management project

One solution for all IT-Areas

  • Capacity Management
  • Performance Management
  • Backup/Recovery
  • Inventory
  • Accounting/cost allocation
  • Incident Management
  • Config Management
  • Change Management
  • SLM (Service Level)
  • OLM (Operational Service Level)

Distinction – What ITRM is not

The use of ITRM solutions brings a lot, but from experience, we emphasize that these are no MONITORING instruments - the representation of resources in real time is not possible. Likewise, ITRM cannot replace (for example, SAP) accounting or serve as a controlling tool.

Do we really need ITRM?

To clarify the benefits of ITRM solutions, a company may also wonder what it would not do without such systems:
  • Recognize and avoid potential bad investments
  • Abolish non-transparency
  • Use "sleeping" IT resources
  • Optimize workloads
  • Identify and minimize potential default risks
  • Shorten long reaction times in procurement processes

A platform for all data streams

The SAS ITRM solution, for example, offers numerous adapters and interfaces - of course including the possibility of generating your own company-specific adapters:
  • ASG TMON2CIC (MXG used for this adapter)
  • ASG TMONDB2
  • BMC Mainview IMS (MXG used for this adapter)
  • CA TMS
  • IBM OS/400 Collection Services
